Employee Spotlight: Robert Ramos

by Josh Early Candies

The idea of family is an extremely important one for us here at Josh Early Candies, and our family extends to include the men and women who make up our team of dedicated staff members. We wouldn’t be where we are today without all of their hard work! In order for you to get to know them a little more and to learn about what they do, we’re going to start featuring our employees here on our blog. To kick things off, let’s introduce you to Robert Ramos.

Robert is one of our most dedicated employees, and he’ll be celebrating six years with the company on September 4. Affectionately known by us as “Bobby”, Robert is Josh Early Candies’ first special-needs employee placed and hired with the help of the VIA of the Lehigh Valley, a non-profit human service agency that provides services for children and adults with disabilities such as autism, cerebral palsy, and Down syndrome.

Everyday weekday morning, Robert starts his three-hour shift at our Allentown store by making coffee. Seeing as so many of us are coffee drinkers, we’re extremely appreciative of Robert’s diligent efforts to keep the caffeine flowing. Though, if he had it his way, he’d probably swap the coffee out in favor of root beer, his beverage of choice.

Once the coffee is brewing, Robert will head out to the show room and sweep the floor, making sure everything looks clean and tidy before we open the door to customers. You can tell that Robert really loves his job because, every now and then, a little smile will spread across his face as he’s sweeping.

The show room isn’t the only part of the factory that needs to be kept in order. Robert is also responsible for keeping the shop areas clean, which means coming through with the broom several times throughout his shift, especially during peak packing and shipping periods.

Have you ever wondered how we keep the outside of our store looking so pristine?  Well, Robert is the one in charge of sweeping the lot and the walkways so everything looks just right!

As you can imagine, we go through a lot of boxes over the course of a day, and Robert makes sure they’re all broken down and put out for recycling.

In between making sure all of his responsibilities are taken care of, you might find Robert engaged in a discussion with his fellow coworkers about his favorite topic – Philadelphia sports. The mere mention of the Eagles or the Phillies will get him going, and he’ll talk your ear off about his teams if you let him!

It’s been such an honor working with Robert and to see him grow more confident at his job over the past six years. Our team – our family – wouldn’t be the same without him.

Congratulations on your anniversary with Josh Early Candies, Robert!
