Recipe: Double Chocolate Brownies with Peanut Butter Cups from Josh Early Candies

by Josh Early Candies

While there’s no question that the chocolates we make in our kitchen at Josh Early Candies are fantastic all on their own, we want to help you think outside the box when it comes to serving up our candies as dessert to your family and friends. That’s why we’ve come up with a decadent brownie recipe that not only calls for our Milk Chocolate Bar ($4.25) but also our Milk Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups($9.00).

The pieces from the Milk Chocolate Bar will help give the brownies a fudgy texture and a deep chocolate flavor, while the Milk Chocolate Peanut Butter Cupswillgive them a touch of unexpected richness.

Send your children to school with these brownies in their lunchboxes; make a double batch and serve them at your tailgate parties; or, simply enjoy them as a luxurious afternoon snack alongside a tall glass of icy, cold milk – however you decide to serve them, we guarantee our Double Chocolate Brownies with Peanut Butter Cups will become an instant family favorite.

What You’ll Need:

·         An 8x8x2-inch Baking Pan

·         A Double Boiler (or a Sauce Pan and Large Glass Bowl, shown below)

·         Water

·         Josh Early Candies Milk Chocolate Bar

·         Unsalted Butter

·         Wire Whisk

·         Cocoa Powder

·         2 Eggs

·         Sugar

·         Rubber Spatula

·         Pure Vanilla Extract

·         All-Purpose Flour

·         Salt

·         Josh Early Candies Milk Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups

What You’ll Do:

Step 1:

Preheat the oven to 350˚F. Grease and flour an 8x8x2-inch baking pan.

Step 2:

Set up a double boiler on the stove top. Or, if you’re using the pan and glass bowl method, fill the pan with about an inch of water and fit the bowl on top of the pan. (The key is to have a little bit of room between the top of the water and the bottom of the boil.) Bring the water to a simmer over medium heat.

Step 3:

Melt 1.5 ounces of the Milk Chocolate Bar and ½ cup Unsalted Butter in a double boiler over simmering water.

Step 4:

When the chocolate and butter have melted completely, remove the bowl from the pan and turn off the burner. Add ½ cup Cocoa Powder and whisk until well-combined. Allow the mixture to cool for 5 minutes.

Step 5:

Add the eggs, one at a time, and whisk well after each addition.

Step 6:

Add 1 cup Sugar and whisk well to combine.

Step 7:

With the rubber spatula, fold in 1 teaspoon Pure Vanilla Extract½ cup All-Purpose Flour, and ¼ teaspoon Salt. You want to fold all of the ingredients together until they’re just combined, being careful not to overbeat.

Step 8:

Fold in ½ cup chopped Milk Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups (about 8 pieces).

Step 9:

Spread the batter evenly in the prepared baking pan and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Step 10:

Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for at least 10 minutes before cutting into squares and serving. The brownies may be stored in an air-tight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
